Kashan / Iran
The city of Kashan, located in the province of Isfahan in Iran, is one of the most important centres of Iranian carpet production. It was once an important trading centre along the famous Silk Road, which still exists today. Kashan carpets are elaborately handmade from hand-spun sheep's wool, while the warp and weft are made from cotton. The dyes come from plant sources. Thanks to the tight knotting with Persian knots, carpets are created that will give their owners pleasure for a long time.
Hand-knotted
This Keshan rug is traditionally made by skilled craftsmen on looms in the city of Kashan in the province of Isfahan in Iran, with each individual knot being carefully knotted by hand. The production of Keshan carpets requires the use of a special loom on which the base fabric is stretched. The weavers use special knotting techniques to weave the wool into the fabric and create intricate patterns. This unique technique allows a high degree of flexibility in the creation of designs and patterns, making each Keshan rug an individual work of art.
Handspun wool
This rug is made from hand-spun sheep's wool. The use of this material makes it an environmentally friendly choice, as no chemical treatments or additives are required. Thanks to their natural fats, these rugs are particularly hard-wearing and resistant to water and dirt. The pleasant feel of carpets made from hand-spun sheep's wool helps to create a cosy atmosphere in a room.
Carpet care
To maintain the appearance of the carpet, regular vacuuming with a gentle hoover is recommended to remove dust and dirt from the fibres. Stains should be gently dabbed immediately with a clean, white cloth dampened with cold water to prevent damage. In addition, rotating the carpet regularly will help to promote even wear and prolong its life.
