Kilim
Kilim rugs have their roots in the late 19th century and enjoy a long tradition in the Orient. They are woven by hand and are characterised by their flat structure. In contrast to the elaborately hand-knotted traditional oriental rugs, kilims offer the advantage of being used on both sides, as the front and back look identical. They are made with warp and weft, using sheep's wool as the main material. Sheep's wool is extremely hard-wearing and also provides excellent thermal insulation. Kilim rugs are known for their vibrant colours and add an atmosphere of vibrancy and joy to any room.
Hand-woven
This carpet is made as a flatweave by hand on looms instead of being machine-made. Unlike traditional high pile carpets, flat weave carpets do not have thick pile fibres and are instead woven flat or very flat. This type of rug is often prized for its versatility and sleek, modern appearance. Flat weave carpets are a popular choice for those looking for a durable and stylish floor covering that suits a variety of interior styles.
Handspun wool
This rug is made from hand-spun sheep's wool. The use of this material makes it an environmentally friendly choice, as no chemical treatments or additives are required. Thanks to their natural fats, these rugs are particularly hard-wearing and resistant to water and dirt. The pleasant feel of carpets made from hand-spun sheep's wool helps to create a cosy atmosphere in a room.
Carpet care
To maintain the appearance of the carpet, regular vacuuming with a gentle hoover is recommended to remove dust and dirt from the fibres. Stains should be gently dabbed immediately with a clean, white cloth dampened with cold water to prevent damage. In addition, rotating the carpet regularly will help to promote even wear and prolong its life.
