Qom / Iran

Knotting a silk carpet is a demanding and time-consuming art that has been perfected by generations of carpet weavers.

Pure silk

Silk is the luxury fibre for the manufacture of carpets. The production of the fibre itself is complex and cost-intensive. Silk fibre is one of the most hard-wearing natural fibres in carpet production. Its robustness and soft feel make it the ideal material for carpets. Due to the fact that the silk fibre is very thin, the knotting density of these carpets is particularly high and the typical pile height is low. This gives the motifs and knotted patterns a particularly intense effect. The lustre typical of silk gives the carpets the special shimmer for which the material is known.

Carpet care

To maintain the appearance of the carpet, regular vacuuming with a gentle hoover is recommended to remove dust and dirt from the fibres. Stains should be gently dabbed immediately with a clean, white cloth dampened with cold water to prevent damage. In addition, rotating the carpet regularly will help to promote even wear and prolong its life.
